LAFF was born from a spark ignited between two patients in the fight of their lives. From that moment of shared strength, a lifeline was created. We exist to bridge the emotional gap that opens the instant someone hears the words, “You have cancer.” In that moment, everything changes and no one should face it alone. At LAFF, we’re building a nationwide movement rooted in connection, compassion, and community. Our mission is to reach every person touched by cancer, wrapping them in care from the very beginning of their journey. By connecting early in diagnosis, we ensure that no one feels invisible. We want every individual to feel seen, supported, and part of something powerful, a community that empowers them and walks beside them. Together, we Face Forward. Always.

At LAFF, we’ve seen firsthand how the power of positive thinking can change everything. It’s more than optimism; it’s courage in motion. It’s the quiet strength that carries someone through their treatment, the laughter that lightens a heavy day, and the hope that connects one heart to another. When we focus on what’s possible instead of limitation, healing begins to bloom in ways science can’t always measure.
Dr. Lee Riley reminds us that positivity doesn’t deny the pain, it transforms it. “The three scariest words that someone can ever hear in their lifetime is you have cancer.” “During an event like that in your life, support can be huge for patients.” “Some patients have great support at home but then some patients may not.” “So that’s where the support groups have a bigger role.” “Plus it also provides people who have gone through the same thing that you might not be able to share with your spouse, or at least you could share, but maybe not have the same experience.”
Does Mind over matter really make a difference in someone’s care?
“It does, it clearly makes a difference in their quality of life.” “We’ve also got studies that show that your state of mind and whether you’re depressed can affect or suppress your immune system.”
“It’s becoming more and more clear now with our current immune drugs, how important the immune system really is in fighting cancer.” “So it’s important to keep your immune system healthy, and to try to keep a positive attitude.”
Here, within our LAFF family, we lift one another up, proving that together, light will always find its way through.
